Please attend our session to ask us questions on class size
March 16, 2026
We’re holding a class size briefing and conversation via Zoom this Thursday, March 19 at 6 PM for anyone who has questions about what the DOE is currently doing or not doing on class size, what they are proposing to do next year, and/or if you would like to share what’s happening at your school. We will also provide tips on how you can help us ensure that the city actually comes up with a workable plan to provide smaller classes to all the kids who need them.
Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/kq_kVa5sRUKHbLbg__XvkA Please come and bring your questions and concerns!
2. Whether or not you can attend this event, please sign up for the City Council hearings on the Mayor’s Preliminary Education budget to be held a week from today on Monday March 23. The DOE and SCA will start testifying at 10 AM, the rest of us around 2 PM. You can sign up to testify either remotely or in person. If you’re interesting in speaking on class size, and would like to be on a panel with Class Size Matters and/or other parents who care about this issue, please email us at info@classsizematters.org
3. Our AI moratorium speak out and the Chancellor’s listening session last Saturday was a definite success. We handed out flyers and sang anti-AI songs outside the event, and after we entered the school, a third grade student hand-delivered our petition to the Chancellor. Two members of our coalition, Edgar of the NYC-DSA Tech Action Working Group and I spoke about the dangers of AI to students’ critical thinking, creativity, mental health, and privacy, which led the Chancellor to respond. You can check out some of the action at the AI Moratorium Instagram site here. The brilliant ed tech critic, Audrey Watters, joined us and wrote about the event and the issue. More soon.
