Our special parent privacy briefing rescheduled for Oct. 22

Oct. 13, 2025

Our special privacy briefing for parents via Zoom has now been rescheduled for Wed. Oct 22 at 6 PM, and it will be co-sponsored as well by the Educational Council Consortium along with Class Size Matters and the Parent Coalition for Student Privacy. You can register here.

We will go over what steps you should be taking if you want to opt out of disclosures of your child’s personal information to charter schools, the military, or other companies, as well as questions parents should be asking their schools about the other data disclosures that they plan to make.

In any case, here are some important deadlines to remember and put in your calendars:

Oct. 22, 2025: The deadline for opting out of the military or college recruiting for 11th and 12th graders

Oct. 31, 2025: The deadline for opting out of charter school disclosures for 3K to 11th graders

Nov. 2025: No specific opt out deadline yet established for the Kids Rise program, but according to the company there will be a 30-day opt-out period beginning in November.

Feb. 14, 2026: the deadline for opting out of disclosures to National Student Clearinghouse for 12th graders.

Here is more info about how to opt out as well as links to all the opt out forms.

On Oct. 22, we will go over these issues in more detail, as well as questions you should be asking your schools about which other companies are being provided with your child’s data, and why. Again, you can register for that briefing here.

Thanks Leonie
