Galaxy budget cuts to schools at more than $1.7B as of June 13, far larger than reported

Total Galaxy cuts to schools as of June 13, 2022, sorted by Council district, added up to more than $1.7 billion – far more than the $215 million in Fair Student Funding that is widely reported.

Though more funding will be added to schools after that date, it generally is limited and supposed to be used for specialized purposes. For example, schools  haven’t yet been funded for Summer Rising (summer school) yet, whose total cost is about $350M but a big portion of that is also going to Community Based Organizations.

Here is an Excel spreadsheet that is easily sortable by school district, with tabs for Galaxy and FSF funding cuts.

You can search for your school’s funding below, and then check it with current amounts on the Galaxy webpage here.
