Update on NY State accountability plan and our Skinny Awards dinner

June 13, 2017

1. The NY State Ed Department has been holding hearings on its ESSA plan. You can check out my account of the Brooklyn hearings; my testimony is here. You can send your own comments through through June 16 on what you think the State should measure to assess the quality of schools and if you think that Opportunity to Learn factors should be included by emailing ESSAcomments@NYSED.gov

2. Just a quick update to remind you to sign up for our annual Skinny dinner Tues. June 20, at 6:30 PM, one week from tonight. If you’ve never attended you’re missing a great time; if you have come before, you know how much fun and how inspiring it can be. It’s always one of my favorite nights of the year. To see which parents, students and advocates we’re honoring this year and to buy your ticket click here. If you cannot attend but would like to support our work, you can also make a contribution at the same link.

Hope to see you there!
