1. Our annual Skinny award dinner is only a week away on Tuesday, June 19 at 6 PM. Get your tickets now! It’s always one of the most delightful nights of the year. More info on the awardees, including Council Member Dromm, Norm Scott, Fred Smith and a mystery awardee here.

2.  There are only four more student privacy hearings, starting tonight June 12 in Manhattan,tomorrow June 13 in Westchester, Friday June 15 in Albany, and Monday June 18 in Queens. They all start at 6 PM; more info including locations here. Please make your voice heard on this crucial issue! Here are some talking points if you’d like to refer to them. Comment period ends June 18.

3. On Thursday June 14, I am speaking to the Chancellor’s Parent Advisory Council at Tweed, 52 Chambers St about our class size lawsuit. Please come if you’re interested in hearing about this. I’ll be speaking at about 11:20 AM immediately following the Chancellor himself.

4. In other news, we sent a letter along with NYSAPE to the Commissioner and Board of Regents about how their proposed ESSA regulations would unfairly and unnecessarily punish schools with large number of kids who opt out of the state exams. Our letter was also quoted in the Washington Post.

5. I was interviewed by Bob Herbert on his CUNY-TV show recently, about segregation, testing, class size, teacher strikes and more. It was a great discussion; you can check it out here.
