Testimony on NYC’s refusal to use billions in additional federal and state funds to lower class size

On Oct. 5, 2021, the NY State Senate Standing Education Committee and the State Senate Standing Committee on NYC Education will hold joint hearings on the city’s use of the additional state and federal education funds at 250 Broadway downtown. More about these hearings here.

A video of my oral testimony is posted above; the written testimony is below.  I cited legislation introduced by Sen. Jackson and AM Jo Anne Simon that would restart the clock on NYC’s obligation to lower class size, which is here; please ask your legislators to sign on if they haven’t already. If you listen to the end, we also touch on the issue of Mayoral control.
