Schools slated for closure, merger or truncation and co-located charter schools

During yesterday’s City Council hearings on Renewal schools, in response to a question from CM Alicka Samuels, Laura Feijoo of DOE underestimated the number of schools co-located with charter schools that DOE now proposes to close, merge or truncate. Of these 19 schools, 12 are co-located with charter schools, as listed below.
Nine Renewal Schools to be closed; six co-located with charter schools (in Bold)
P.S. 50 Vito Marcantonio (Manhattan, District 4) – Co-located with New York Center for Autism Charter School and Dream Charter School
Coalition School for Social Change (Manhattan, District 4)- Co-located with Harlem Village Academy Leadership Charter School
High School for Health Careers and Sciences (Manhattan, District 6)- Not co-located with a charter
New Explorers High School (Bronx, District 7)- Co-located with KIPP Academy Charter School
Urban Science Academy (Bronx, District 9)- Co-located with Success Academy Charter School Bronx 3
P.S. 92 Bronx School (Bronx, District 12)- Not co-located with a charter
Brooklyn Collegiate: A College Board School (Brooklyn, District 23)- Co-located with Achievement First Brownsville
P.S./M.S. 42 R. Vernam (Queens, District 27)- Not co-located with a charter
M.S. 53 Brian Piccolo (Queens, District 27) Co-located with Success Academy Far Rockaway

Holcombe L. Rucker School of Community (Renewal) (Bronx, District 8), becoming part of Longwood Preparatory Academy (Renewal) – Not co-located with a charter
Entrada Academy (Renewal) (Bronx, District 12) into Accion Academy- Entrada Academy is Co-located with South Bronx Classical Charter School and the New York Center for Autism Charter School Bronx, Accion Academy is the prevailing school
Middle School of Marketing and Legal Studies (Brooklyn, District 18) into East Flatbush Community and Research School (Renewal)- Both are Co-located with Kings Elementary School (Uncommon Schools)
Middle school grades of Gregory Jocko Jackson School (Renewal)(Brooklyn, District 23) into Brownsville Collaborative Middle School – Gregory Jocko Jackson is co-located with Leadership Prep Brownsville Charter, Brownsville Collaborative is the prevailing school

Wadleigh Secondary School for The Performing Visual Arts (Renewal) (Manhattan, District 3) will no longer serve middle school students.
