Last two weeks to get state class size legislation passed!

May 20, 2022

Dear folks —

1. The State Legislature will be in session only for twenty more days.   Please call your Legislators today and urge them to pass the bills that would require NYC to phase in smaller classes in all grades.   Tell them to support and bring to the floor for a vote Sen. bill 6286 and A. 7447 NOW, to provide equitable class sizes to NYC kids at last! You can find contact numbers for your Senators here; and Assemblymembers here.

2.  Next Monday May 23 at 6 PM, I’ll be briefing CEC members and other interested parents via Zoom on the budget cuts planned for our schools next year and their likely impact on class size and school overcrowding, in a meeting sponsored by the Education Council Consortium. To sign up for the briefing, register here.

3. Please save the date! On Sat. June 4 at 4 PM, Class Size Matters will be holding our annual Parent Action Conference, co-sponsored with NYC Kids PAC, with special keynote speakers, online parent workshops on a variety of critical topics, and info on what YOU can do to ensure better schools for NYC kids. More details soon.

But please call your legislators today!

Thanks as always, Leonie
