Last chance in 2022 to help us fight for a quality education!

Dec.27, 2022

1. In the last few days of 2022, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to Class Size Matters, so we can continue making progress in 2023. It was a landmark year as we helped persuade the NY State legislature to pass a new law to require smaller classes in all grades in the NYC public schools — which will provide huge benefits to our students. Yet we still need to make sure that the Mayor and Chancellor actually follow through with a real actionable plan to lower class size — and so far, they have shown no indications that they have one. Please make a donation today, so we can continue the fight for NYC students to finally receive their right to a quality education.

2. As you know, I co-host a weekly radio show called Talk out of School on WBAI 99.5 FM that airs Saturday at 1 PM EST, with NYC teacher Daniel Alicea. The show is also a podcast.  Our last show of 2022 will air this Saturday Dec. 31 at 1 PM EST, and will feature special guest Diane Ravitch. We’d like to include your thoughts on the best and/or worst events that affected NYC schools and public education in general in 2022, as well as your hopes for 2023. Please send your comments in the form of a short sound file no more than two minutes to danalicea@gmail.com. If you prefer to share your thoughts in written form, email them to me at info@classsizematters.org; but either way, the deadline is Friday, Dec. 30 at noon.

And don’t forget to listen in!

Happy New Year,
