Dear all:

1. Exciting news! More than half of all City Council members have now signed onto a bill, Intro 2374, that by radically lowering classroom capacity would also require much smaller classes to be phased in starting next fall.   Please urge Speaker Johnson to schedule hearings and a vote by calling City Hall office at 212-788-7210, and leave this message:

I urge the Speaker to schedule hearings and a vote on the class size/school capacity bill, Intro 2374, as soon as possible.   Our kids need smaller classes, and we can’t wait any longer for this mayor or the next one to do the right thing.

You can also check out the link above to see if your Council Member has signed onto the bill; if not, give them a call as well. You can find their contact info by filling in your address here.

2.Tonight I’ll be on News 12 Bronx at 7 PM,  talking about the Mayor de Blasio’s delayed decision to phase out separate gifted classes and his refusal to lower class size.  Please watch if you can!

3. I’ll also be testifying on Mayoral control and school governance tomorrow at Assembly Education Committee hearings that begin at 10 am, livestreamed here.  My testimony for tomorrow, entitled the Five Myths of Mayoral control, is posted here.

Talk to you soon,
