Send a letter to your legislators today! and reasons to opt out
March 27, 2017
1. Right now the state budget is being negotiated. Please take a minute to send a letter to your legislators today. Tell them to fully fund the foundation formula, designed to equitably and sufficiently fund high needs schools. The letter also urges them to block the Governor’s proposal to raise the cap on charter schools in NYC and not to increase funding to charters for operating aid or for rent.
2. Please also check out our blog that offers many reasons to opt your child out of the state ELA exams for grades 3-8 that begin tomorrow. It’s not too late! There are many reasons to opt out — including to protect your child’s data privacy. His or her test scores will go straight into the state longitudinal database where they will remain for many years to come. More on this here.
