New class size video; take a look & then sign our petition!

June 20, 2021

On Friday, we released a new short video on why class size matters and why it must be reduced in NYC schools. The video includes the voices of parents, educators, and students, as well as historian Diane Ravitch, former District Superintendent Kathleen Cashin, and CM Danny Dromm, who is leading the charge for $250 million to be spent on lowering class size next year.  Please check it out and let me know what you think. There’s an even shorter version you can share with friends or retweet.

The final City budget will be negotiated in the next ten days, so if you haven’t signed our petition to the Mayor, please do!

2. We are the middle of a crucial mayoral election, as well as contests for other important citywide and borough offices, along with the majority of City Council positions. The results of this election will likely determine the future of our public schools.

We have put together a helpful comparison chart, summarizing the education positions of all eight major Mayoral candidates. Please take a look if you can before you vote on Tuesday. You can find your polling place here.

Thanks, Leonie
