More on borough class size hearings and our annual Skinny award dinner
May 29, 2024
Dear all —
1- A reminder: the last two borough hearings on DOE’s ineffectual class size plan are going to be held tonight Wednesday, and tomorrow Thursday, via Zoom. Sign up here starting at 5 PM; our talking points about the positive steps the DOE should be taking instead to ensure schools will be able to meet the class size limits next year and the years to come are available as a pdf here
2- Please sign up now for our June 12 Class Size Matters annual dinner where we will be honoring the independent members of the Panel for Educational Policy; there will be food and drink and lots of great company, including friends and allies, working together for better schools for NYC children.
3- School budgets are due to be released very soon – with DOE refusing to commit to hold schools harmless for enrollment decline or for other reasons. A preliminary estimate is that as many as 750 schools may see their budgets significantly cut next year. Instead, we are demanding that NO school should have their budget reduced. If you have good news or bad about your own school’s budget, please share.
Thanks!
