Important vote on Staten Island tonight on student privacy
Wednesday May 28, 2025
Sorry for the last minute notice, but there’s an important vote tonight Wed., May 28, 2025 at 6 PM of the Panel for Educational Policy at the Michael J. Petrides School (715 Ocean Terrace, Staten Island). On the agenda is revising and weakening Chancellor’s regulation A 820 on student privacy.
According to these proposed revisions, the DOE could share highly sensitive student info with anyone they please, including a student’s name, email and home address, cell phone number and their photo, and more, with only an unreliable parent opt out method to prevent this.
See the letter sent to the Chancellor about this, and our press release here.
If you are able to attend this meeting and speak out against the revisions, please let me know by responding to this email. I’m happy to provide talking points, if that would be helpful.
Thanks! Leonie
